Case Klarna Expo 2019.

You probably have heard of Klarna, the Swedish financial institution with the smooth Snoop Dogg TV ads and bold pink brand identity. The one that has visual pizza slice icons to explain how you can slice up purchases into smaller payments.

This Stockholm based bank organises an annual Klarna Smoooth Week; a truly kickass, radical week with events and happenings with the purpose of all Klarna employees to meet and learn from each other and their partners. One of the main events is Klarna Expo, a full scale internal fair for employees by employees.

In 2019, this event wasn’t just a few employees and partners catching up in a boring meeting room, but 1700 people meeting in a massive industrial hall just outside Berlin, Germany. And yeah, that’s what we helped them with. Turning an old DDR radio broadcasting venue called Funkhouse into a smooth brand temple together with a super-talented event agency Ciceron Group.

As we had worked with Ciceron Group (Consecutive Winners of the 2018, 2019 & 2020 Brand Experience Agency of the Year in Sweden) on a few smaller gigs before and as we had build events in Berlin earlier, they asked our help with the event’s production. Ciceron’s creatives minds and producers had ideated a truly wonderful learning and event environment concept for Klarna. With full of furry, smooth and pink elements.

This concept included stages for keynote speakers, Learning Labs as well as space divider whiteboards and areas where dozens of Klarna teams worked together over a few days. During the breaks, their team members aka Klarnauts also had great stalls for food, coffee and drinks to visit and recharge their energy levels.

In another venue nearby, we helped to produce one-of-a-kind afterwork after midnight party for the whole Klarna team. Something even an old fart like our MD Jani would have like to attend.

We helped with the big stuff, small stuff, furry stuff, smoooth stuff, stuff filled with helium, installing and uninstalling. All kinds of smooothness.

Our job was to ensure timely approval of production files and cutting the budget. We helped with badges, lanyards, walls, rugs, signage, small stuff, big stuff, smooth stuff, furry stuff (oh yes that too), installing, uninstalling and you-name-what to get done. With our service, we made the event’s physical production as easy as possible for Ciceron team; getting everything produced and managed from a single partner.

Just before the event, our team – lead by our “Der Produktion Häuptling” Pauli Kuusijärvi – flew to the location to ensure our partners can build everything as planned to give Ciceron team peace of mind. A smooth, 5-star event production service one could say.
